The foundation of the Castle

The year of foundation of the Castle - the castrum (fortress) - is 1025, when the Patriarch of Aquileia Poppon invested a feofee from Augusta (now Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany) with a hill and allowed him to build a castle. The event has been repeatedly witnessed by the archives documents⁽¹⁾ and in an ancient headstone which is still preserved⁽²⁾.
